Kite surfing: Ynyslas Wind Direction: W-WNW Wind Stength: 12-19 Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Max Speed: Distance Covered:
What a day ! Left work at lunchtime and arrived at Ynyslas an hour before
high tide. Wind wasnt quite as much as I'd hoped (about 10ish) Neap tides
so enough sand for the landboard. Spent a couple of hours ripping up the
sand with just the odd dog walker and a nice looking couple of sunbathers
on the shingle. Sand was a bit soft in lots of places so not the best but
then the wind picked up as the tide started falling. I'd noticed that
nearer the estuary the wind seemed just a bit stronger and the surf was
smaller with some quite wide area of flat frothy stuff. Went back for the
kiteboard and almost started walking down the the flatter water but it
looked about a mile away and didn't fancy the walk flying the kite so
decided to try an experiment and set off on the landboard with kiteboard
under arm. Worked a treat and I was there in no time :) Once in the water
things were better than I expected and managed to get planing on the board
most of the time with no probs - second real session in the water so very
pleased - and in no time I'd found myself boarding right back to the
carpark dodging along the edges of surf and picking my spot to ride over
them. Best was that I could do it both ways all the way along the dunes.
As the tide fell the `big' surf got much closer to the beach and I was
starting to have a harder time. Went back to the car for a snack...
